Have a read at this: CLICK HERE

Carl Fowler, former chair of the English Department at Amarillo College spits out this delusion, "The vindictiveness of liberal writers to this newspaper and other publications toward President Bush since his election in 2000 has created much of the divisiveness in the country today"

And this gem, "it should be apparent that the majority of the citizens of our country do not want a socialistic government."

Bush and the criminals he runs with are COMPLETELY inncocent of;

Carl Fowler and his fantasy based crew are SHOCKED at those big meanie liberals.

Get it? those pinkos criticizing dear leader should just roll over.

Tell ya what Carl . . . you start apoligizing to the families of those who were killed and wounded in Iraq, and those jobless and broke, and the 45 million uninsured, etc.

  1. This was my favorite quote from his piece: "For the good of the country, in my humble way, I advocate that the parties reach across the aisle and, instead of slapping each other, shake hands." Reaching out to conservatives usually results in the loss of a hand or two, so I think I'll pass.

    It seems that Prodigal Son and blogarillo read a very different article than I did. What I read was a thought provoking piece about the social welfare system, written by a person with first-hand experience who made a conscious decision to right social wrongs, not through what President Bush aptly called "the soft prejudice of low expectations" but through the self-empowerment of education.

    I find it revealing that the two of you skipped almost all of the first 12 paragraphs of this article, seized on the author's observations about "the vindictiveness of liberal writers," and then set out to prove him right.

    Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. Why don't you give it a rest, and for one day assume an attitude of gratitude for all the blessings you've received over the last year. Then starting Friday, begin to outline how you would go about making this country a better place, rather than berating the powers that be for all the things you perceive them to have done wrong.

    I'm reminded of an encounter I had about 20 years ago with a lieutenant colonel who had just taken over command of my battalion in Germany. This being my third tour with the unit, I thought I knew it all and started to give the commander an earful about all the things that were wrong. He very calmly left me vent, then asked me a question that changed my life. "Sergeant Mueller, let's pretend for a moment you're the battalion commander. What would you do to make all these things better." I was speechless. I had all the critiques and none of the solutions. At the tender age of about 34 I suddenly realized I was too old to be an angry young man anymore. My Thanksgiving wish for you as that you experience the same epiphany.

  3. Anon,

    I actually have problems with several things in his article. I had neither the time nor desire to write a thorough response, so I picked the one that irked me the most. Fowler is quite right about the vindictiveness of liberal writers, though I don't believe we hold anything close to a monopoly on that kind of attitude. Plenty of insults and slurs get hurled our way as well. It sucks, but that's just the way it is.

    I appreciate your advice regarding a Thanksgiving break. Please do not assume that just because we rant on this blog that we are angry or ungrateful people. We are well aware of the fact that the U.S. is the greatest country on Earth. But that doesn't stop us from aksing ourselves, "How can it be better?" I think we should do as you suggest and develop the PST Guide to a Better Tomorrow. I'll spend a couple of days thinking that over.

    On a side note, I want to be very clear about something...I may gripe about conservatives and Republicans and their take on issues, but I do not hate them as people. In this part of the world that would require hating just about everyone I know. So having said that, let me say to you: have a Happy Thanksgiving.
