  1. The Rev. is right about the name calling. We need to be more constructive with the anger and frustration we feel.

  2. I kind of like "Kennebunkport Corleones" . . .

But I do not recall any name calling in a LTE or ed columns saying the rethugs were stupid.

    However . . .
I DO recall being called a traitor for opposing Iraq

I DO recall being called unamerican for opposing Bush's policies.

Someone who lies is a liar in my book.

  3. Agreed blogarillo.

The biggest headache I have is refuting half truths and lies. The most ardent supporters of the both sides spend 10 seconds throwing out unsubstantiated statements and I have to spend two hours finding out if what they said is true.

I refuse to believe anything either sides says without them backing it up with something more substantial than a link to an editorial piece.

  4. Jim Perkins used the word "stupid" in reference to the Republican majority in a post-election guest column. There may have been a couple of others. I can only fault them so much. Words like "idiots" and "morons" escaped my mouth frequently after the election. A lot of my friends and family vote Republican, though, and I don't truly believe them to be stupid. Misguided, perhaps...

You are correct that plenty of insults are hurled our way. And that makes it all the more tempting to reply in the same manner. The other day I saw a car with a bumper sticker that declared "The Religious Right, the Immoral Left." Ridiculous. I have no problem with casting slurs at the Republicorp leadership and their enablers in the media. They certainly deserve it.
