Question War Film Series
Sunday, April 10
2 pm
Downtown Library, 2nd floor meeting room
The free double feature will screen "I Come From Iraq" and "The Fourth World War".
"I Come From Iraq" is the story of filmaker Nadia Shihab's family roots in Iraq. Filmed during the leadup to the Iraq War, Ms. Shihab explores the personal impacts of war and exile on her family.
"The Fourth World War" by Rick Rowland and Jackie Sooen is a powerful, passionate new film that weaves together the stories of movements and communities on the ground in Chiapas, Argentina, South Africa, Palestine, South Korea, Iraq, New York, Quebec City and Genova as they resist war, globalization and empire.
"The intensity and immediacy of its images are beyond anything the mainstream media can shoot, the intimacy and passion of its stories are beyond anything it can feel. Directed by the award winning New York-based Big Noise Films, and narrated by Tony Award winner Suheir Hammad and Singer Michael Franti of Spearhead, it is a radical story of hope and human connection in the face of a war that shatters and divides."
It's all free - the films, the food and the discussion. One of these films is gentle and poignant, and the other will kick your ass to the third world and back. Hope to see all y'all truthsquaders there. - PazAmarillo
